Lost-Wax Casting

with Grayson Rizzi

Learn to carve rings, pendants, brooches or small sculptures in wax, then use the wax model to create a finished cast piece in silver or bronze using the lost wax casting method. This 5 week class introduces multiple ways of wax-working including: additive, subtractive, filing, using hot tools and a small alcohol torch, as well as working with investment casting techniques. Several different finishing techniques will be demonstrated, as well. Bronze is included in the workshop cost, silver can be purchased from the instructor during class. 

 

Instructor Bio: 

Grayson Rizzi is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design and holds a BFA in jewelry and metalsmithing. Working with metal from a young age, his current work focuses on themes of craft and industry and heavily utilizes color and repetition. When not working in the studio or teaching, he can be found cooking or collecting vinyl records.
