Welding 1 (Introduction to Welding)

with Grey Hillard-Koshinsky

Have you always wondered about what welding is and want to learn more about various types of welding processes? Are you interested in welding but not sure which welding process would be best for you? Are you an artist, hobbyist or professional in a union looking to learn more about welding processes to eventually work on your own projects? In this introduction to welding students from all walks of life will explore manual and arc welding processes. Manual processes explored will include oxy-acetylene AKA “torch” AKA “gas” welding. Arc welding processes include SMAW AKA “Stick” Welding and GMAW AKA “MIG” welding. In addition to welding processes students will gain a solid foundation of proper use with hand tools and other shop equipment including the angle grinder, sand blaster, pneumatic hand tools, chop saw and bench grinder. This introductory class will get students headed in the right direction for exploring welding further whether it be for your job or a weekend warrior project in your garage. No experience needed with welding and/or the tools mentioned above.
